Maui Mantra: Live Simply
Way back in simpler times before Executive Orders and Greenland and Tariffs I went on record stating that in my 5.5 years of living in West Maui I had never worn blue jeans. Don’t even own a pair. Don’t need’em. Don’t want’em.
That declaration got my brain buzzing about what ELSE have I avoided/eschewed/gone without now that I’m coming up on almost six years of ALOHA allure? The list is long and truthful – some may chuckle/gasp/scream at this caveman confessional:
Had a Cup of Coffee (nevah!!)
Purchased Fast Food (horrible stuff)
Purchased Hard Liquor (see above)
Used a Blender (don’t own one)
Made Ice Cubes (don’t use’em)
Taken a Selfie (not my thing)
Played a Video Game (zero interest)
Watched a Podcast (see above)
Used Twitter/X or Insta or Tik Tok (prefer privacy)
Gone to a Movie Theater (nearby one burned down)
Worn a Suit and Tie (in this weather?)
Worn a Watch (no tan lines)
Used an ATM (not necessary)
Bought Something on Amazon (don’t have an account)
Bought Something at Costco (see above)
Used Uber or Uber Eats or DoorDash (no thanks)
Played Softball or Golf or Tennis (my bad)
Used the Dishwasher (full-time pantry)
Used AC in my Condo Unit (Unit does not have AC, really?!)
Mowed the Lawn (HOA handles)
Raked Leaves (see above)
Trimmed Bushes (see above)
Shoveled Snow (yeah, right?!)
Bought a Surfboard (at my age?!)
